    This recruitment is intended to establish a pool of qualified candidates for the permanent Crime and Intelligence Analyst I position. The pool will not be used to fill any immediate vacancies but will instead be utilized to fill future vacancies within the Sheriff's Office throughout the County.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Associates degree from an accredited college or university, or foreign studies equivalency in crime analysis, criminal justice, statistics, business administration, public administration, or other closely related field. 


    Experience: 6 months of work experience in a Crime Analysis Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, or Law Enforcement Unit, in the collection, analysis, and presentation of complex crime data.

    Certificate: Possession of a Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst (CCIA) certificate issued by an accredited college or university.

    The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office posted a new recruitment for Sheriff's Crime and Intelligence Analyst I/II. Applications are currently being accepted on a continuous basis and the recruitment may close at any time; therefore, the schedule for the remainder of the process will depend upon when the Sheriff’s Office receives a sufficient number of qualified applicants to meet business needs.

    Crime Analyst I is the entry-level classification in this series. Incumbents perform the more routine assignments requiring the application of basic data research and analysis principles.

    Crime Analyst II is the journey-level classification in this series. Incumbents perform complex technical assignments requiring professional knowledge and skills in conducting data research and analysis projects, formulating recommendations, and communicating findings effectively and are expected to exercise independent judgment working within established systems.

    The ideal candidate will have experience working in a crime analysis unit analyzing crime statistics and providing intelligence information for a law enforcement agency.
