This 16-hour course is designed to be an introduction to the Human Trafficking series, applicable laws and how the State California is currently responding to this emerging threat.  The course will provide a generalized overview of laws, California’s law enforcement and victim service approach and will highlight case management strategies consistent with a trauma informed care and victim centered approach.

Topics include:

• Applicable International, Federal and State Human Trafficking Laws
• Introduction to Domestic/International Human Trafficking Themes and Operations
• Introduction to the Scope and Breath of Modern Day Slavery in the State of California and United States
• How to Identify and Report Signs of Potential Trafficking
• Overview of California’s Law Enforcement and Victim Services Providers
• Basic Investigatory Strategies Consistent with a Trauma Informed and Victim Centered Approach
