As the first of the first responders, Public Safety Dispatchers and non-sworn personnel are becoming increasingly required to testify in court. The primary goals of this course are to familiarize dispatchers with the courtroom process and the appropriate demeanor for witnesses. This course does not address local procedures or specific jurisdictional practice but rather offers a broad overview of courtroom procedures.
Under the instruction provided by a qualified instructor(s) each student will acheive the following learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the criminal court process in California.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the US Constitutional requirements
- Identify common expectations for professional courtroom testimony.
- Identify legal terms associated with courtroom testimony and the court process.
